CAN YOU PREDICT YOUR OWN DEATH ?

We've all been singing along "Island In the Sun" by WEEZER, even if the only thing we could repeat in the song was the unforgetable "woop woop". It became some sort of classic chilling tune that is part of our old school early 2000s alternative rock playlist. And somehow, after wacthing the video, we all thought that playing with animals, throwing monkeys in the air and making cats being drummers was kind of a cool thing.

If you feel like you're definitely the person described above, you'll probably be affected by the fact that the ex bassist of this great band passed away few days ago in Chicago at the age of 40.

Mikey Welsh passed away from a suspected drug overdose. Now you might be sad but think: "Oh well, he was a rockstar and that happens a lot in the industry". Fair enough, but the point is he was a great bassist and part of great band. Not as big as the Red Hot Chili Peppers' bassist Flea but you know, the guy had great skills, so we all feel pretty bad for Weezer right now.

But the most awkard and weird thing would be that Welsh predicted his own death. Now, I am a very supersticious person, I have to admit it. However the facts are here. He was found on a hotel room at Chicago on the 9th of October.

On September 26th, he posted on twitter: " Dreamt I died in Chicago next weekend (heart attack in my sleep) need to write my will today."

Showcasing one of his art piece at $250, he also wrote the day before: "If I am still alive at time of purchase, price to increase exponentially if i expire prematurely."

The police doesn't exactly know what hapened to him, but involment of narcotics are suspected.

The real question I am asking myself here is: Can you then predict your own death? Well it seems like Mikey Welsh did. But let's just remember him for the amazing work he did with Weezer.

Here is two of my favourite tunes from them.

Enjoy xx

WHO IS SLEIGH BELLS?

Derek.E.Miller and Alexis Klaus are the two members of SLEIGH Bells.

Not really a common name for the duo from Brooklyn but let's put it that way, if you're an unsual group of musicians you better have an unusual name. People tend to like the awkwardness of things nowadays anyway, guess they think it can make you look cooler somehow. My point is SLEIGH BELLS isn't the greatest band name but you know what, they make good music and at the end it's all that matters.

I remember wondering how you could be called Arctic Monkeys and create such great tunes?
Oh Well...Apologies for my strange way of thinking.

After touring with CSS, the band started getting well known for their cool style and their typical lo-fi way of making songs. With an upcoming "emotionally heavy" album full of powerful pop tunes, SLEIGH BELLS is the band to watch.

Thought Lily Allen was singing first time I heard the track "Rill Rill", but I was wrong. It was only Alexis sort of high pitched voice and her Jessie J look-alike style. Somehow they still managed to make the song their own and create a great tune with a sweet melody. Probably one of their best one.

At the end, that is what SLEIGH BELLS is all about, making sweet lo-fi tunes that we'll all enjoy listening to after dancing on WISE BLOOD too much or being depressed on JOY DIVISION.

Check them out!
